Watching seeds germinate is a excellent activity for children and parents, particularly when seeds sprout quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago the sativa) is a very easy to cultivate seed that will develop in the next week. For a chance to observe the seeds grow by sprinkling a few alfalfa seeds over a piece of paper towel that is damp.
What you will need:
Alfalfa seeds in a packet (about 1.5g)
a saucer or small plate
Three pieces of paper towel
an air mister, or a small water jug
How to Grow
Get 3 pieces of paper towels, then lay them on top the other on a platter.
Then , drain the water from the plate. The paper towel should be damp, but the seeds should not be floating in water.
Distribute the seeds evenly over the towel.
To prevent the paper towel from drying out, place it on a window with water. To moisten seeds, utilize a spray bottle or mister. You can also add water into the saucer using a cup or small jug.
Every day, be sure to check your seeds to see how they are growing.
Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seed is easy to grow and should be able to germinate in just 2-6 days. Here are some signs to keep an eye on in the event that your seeds do not germinate in this time.
Too dry: Seeds require water in order to grow. Alfalfa seeds absorb around their weight in water prior to they germinate, بذور برسيم حجازي للبيع and بذور برسيم حجازي للبيع look swollen. Seeds that aren’t dry enough do not grow. Make sure to add more water to your plate to ensure that the seeds are wet but not floating in the water. You could also soak your seeds overnight. But be sure to remove them and wash them well before transferring them onto a paper towel.
Too moist Seeds that are too moist could cause their roots and their shoots to decay before they are able to develop. The seeds can also become moldy. It’s okay for the paper towel to be damp but the seeds should not be floating on water. Remove any excess water from the plate each time you mist or water the seeds.
Too cold or hot: The best temperature for alfalfa to grow is 20-25 degrees Celsius. If you’re planting your seeds indoors in winter, place them in a warm area. If you are growing your seeds in very hot temperatures, you might need to water them more often as they will dry out faster.
